St Peter’s Square to get 500+ new hotel rooms

The final piece of St Peter’s Square’s regeneration jigsaw has been given the green light by councillors.

Derelict Peterloo House is to be demolished and in its place will go a 20-storey hotel with a 262-bed apart-hotel on top of that.

The wider development of St Peters Square has seen new tramlines, premium office space, upgraded seating and the jewel in the crown – a renovated Central Library.

Stefan Lenze, Head of Development at Motel One, said: “This is a perfect base for our third hotel in Manchester. The redevelopment of St Peter’s Square creates one of the most exciting urban spaces right in the heart of the city.”

Work on the new hotel and apart-hotel will begin by next Spring, with both expected to open within 3 years.
