Everyone who visits Manchester's leisure centres is being invited to sign up for the new MCRactive card, which opens up free pay and play activities for all to enjoy this weekend.
Free activities including five-a-side football, fitness classes, squash, athletics, tennis and basketball will be available over the weekend, for anyone who signs up for the card.
Signing up is completely free, with no joining or annual fee. Those who sign up before the end of October will be eligible for an exclusive preferential rate for pay and play sessions at sport and leisure centres across the city.
The new card is being launched as part of Manchester City Council’s drive to remove barriers to participation in sport, health and leisure activities and to encourage as wide a range of local citizens as possible to get active.
The card will be accepted in participating sport and leisure facilities across the city, from local community leisure centres and swimming pools to national centres of excellence - including the HSBC UK National Cycling Centre, National Squash Centre and Manchester Aquatics Centre.
Anyone can register, either online or by dropping into their local centre. Any current pay and play users who have booked an activity in the past will be automatically registered as a MCRactive cardholder.
Over the coming weekend, selected pay and play activities will be free of charge on Friday 1, Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 September between 12 - 5pm at participating centres.
