As one door closes, another opens. That old saying is never truer than in the Northern Quarter, where there’s a new bar opening every week. This week we’re saying ‘goodbye’ to an old favourite.
Keko Moku tiki bar on High Street served its last flaming zombie on Saturday, November 19. Popping up in its place will be a new convenience store-themed bar from the same owners, Beautiful Drinks.
Keko Moku was an early arrival on the Northern Quarter cocktail scene back in 2009. It has since been joined by sister outfits Almost Famous, Home Sweet Home and Luck Lust Liquor & Burn.
Perhaps indicative of the wider fortunes of the Great British high street, it is being transformed into a convenience store. However, as Director Beau Myers says: "It’s not another f*****g Tesco Express." You’ll be able to drink in store for one!
And to celebrate the launch, one lucky person has the opportunity to win an after-hours lock-in and £1,000 bar tab. Enter at conveniencestorenq.com
Convenience Store is expected to open to the public at the end of November.
