Did you know that the UK’s second largest makerspace is in the Northern Quarter?
MadLab exists to “to help people to make things better, together” through a carefully considered programme of craftsmanship and community innovation. Over 40,000 people use the space and facilities every year, often for free.
Spread over three floors, the 3,000 sq ft mixed use space on Edge Street hosts 70 community meet-up groups. From graphic novels and short story writing, computer games programming and electronics, bitcoin mining, film-making, photography and jewellery-making, there’s something for everyone.
The latest addition to the space is FabLab - giving anybody with an idea they want to bring to life access to 3D printers and laser cutters. This prototyping service is flanked by regular training courses, creative networking events and expert advice on grant applications.
