Manchester gets its own ‘Oyster card’

If you rely on a combination of the bus and tram to get you to work every day you’ll know it can a hassle buying multiple tickets. Not anymore.

A new smart travelcard has launched, allowing you to combine the two.

Transport for Greater Manchester’s newly introduced Get Me There card means the days of queuing up at a machine to buy a paper ticket are numbered.

“The aim of Get Me There is to make printed tickets a thing of the past by introducing a range of smarter ways to travel including the get me there card, and the get me there mobile ticketing app for Metrolink. Get me there will allow you to plan your journey and buy tickets in advance, all you have to do is touch in when boarding a bus or tram and touch off when finishing your Metrolink journey.”

Transport for Greater Manchester have also confirmed that concessionary passes and young people’s discounts apply to the new system. However, there’s work to be done before passengers can use their bank card to clock in and out of their journeys.
