Byron Burger to close Manchester restaurant

Gourmet burger chain Byron has announced plans to close their restaurant in Manchester’s revitalised Corn Exchange.

Byron Burgers has undergone rapid expansion in recent years, following its acquisition by private equity firm Hutton Collins for £100m in 2013. Some commentators have suggested this pace of change has caused the chain to lose its way.

Bryon expects to close the site when its lease comes to an end in 2018. The chain will also be closing three other restaurants from its 70-strong portfolio around the country.

Byron were one of the first tenants to the renovated Grade II-listed Corn Exchange when it reopened in September 2015.

The news comes as work is underway to open Glasgow steak and gin house, Alston Bar & Beef, at the Corn Exchange.
