Nominations open for Manchester Sports Awards 2017

The search is on for Manchester’s community sports heroes. The annual awards – organised by Manchester City Council – aim to honour the city’s athletes, clubs, coaches, officials and volunteers whose hard work makes a lasting difference to others and develops sport at a community level.

The awards also highlight the many talented athletes who live in the city.

Last year’s winners included lacrosse star Eddie Owen, Mike Harris (Wythenshawe Weightlifting Club) for Community Coach of the Year, Paula Moulton (wheelchair dance) for Achievement in Disability Sport and GB Taekwondo for Outstanding Contribution to Sport in Manchester.

Nominations for the 2017 Awards are open until 11 September with the awards ceremony taking place on Saturday 28th October 2017 at the Hilton, Deansgate.
