With autumn upon us, it’s time for Manchester’s perennially popular family celebration of Bonfire Night - with spectacular organised firework and bonfire events taking place at parks across the city.
Official, free firework displays will be held at four Manchester parks and at the Etihad Campus in the coming days - ahead of three events on the big night itself, Sunday 5 November, at Heaton Park, Platt Fields Park and Wythenshawe Park.
All of the events kick off with a funfair from 5pm, with spectacular firework displays following later in the evening.
Families should be aware that all bags will be searched on entry, so organisers are advising attendees to leave their bags at home, in order to minimise delays. Fast-track entry lanes will be available for those arriving without bags.
Visitors are also reminded not to bring fireworks, sparklers, or alcohol, as these items will all be confiscated. Make sure to dress appropriately for the autumnal weather, arrive early to avoid disappointment – and be sure to bring a torch.
Executive Member for Schools, Culture and Leisure, Councillor Luthfur Rahman, said: "Our fantastic, free bonfire night events at parks across Manchester are always incredibly popular with local families. We recommend you arrive early - and make sure you wrap up warm - to enjoy your community firework display."
